Amajuba District Municipality has formally welcomed the newly appointed leadership of its Religious Affairs and Interfaith Office.
The structure was received and endorsed by Acting Mayor Mthembu, who expressed support for the establishment of a formal interfaith body within local government.
The municipality says the new structure is expected to play an important role in promoting unity, moral renewal and social cohesion across communities in the district.
It is also expected to assist in addressing social challenges affecting residents, including community conflict, family breakdown, youth-related issues and other problems that require cooperation between government, faith leaders and communities.
The newly appointed Amajuba District Interfaith leadership is made up of:
Chairperson: Pastor Nsikelelo Ndlovu
Deputy Chairperson: Rev. Vusumuzi Kunene
Secretary: Pastor Gule
Deputy Secretary: Bishop Dr Ndlovu
Coordinator: Pastor Mabaso
The endorsement marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between the municipality and faith-based organisations in Amajuba.
