Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu is a free agent after parting ways with AmaZulu FC.
Zungu joined Usuthu in December 2024 after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, arriving with experience from South Africa and Europe.
The move was seen as a strong signing for AmaZulu, with the club hoping his leadership and midfield quality would help stabilise the team.
Zungu did play an important role during the second half of the 2024/25 season, but the campaign that followed proved more difficult.
Under coach Arthur Zwane, the 33-year-old struggled for regular minutes and made only 13 appearances, with limited game time becoming a growing frustration.
His contract was due to expire next month, and the decision has now been made that he will not continue with AmaZulu.
Zungu is not believed to be considering retirement and is expected to look for a new club.
The midfielder has previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns, Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal, Rangers in Scotland and Amiens in France.
His next move could still be in the Betway Premiership, although opportunities outside South Africa may also be possible.
